Niger State Government is to establish international market at Lapai and Agaie with a view of adding value to Sesame farming and marketing.

This was disclosed by the permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Idris Usman Gbogan while paying courtesy to the royal fathers of Lapai and Agaie recently.

The permanent Secretary appreciated the Emirs for the lands given for the establishment of the markets to attract investors into sesame production in the state.

According to Dr Gbogan, the selection of the two communities was based on the high production of sesame and the attraction of the Commodity at the international market.

He solicited the cooperation of the royal Fathers in the Area to sensitize and educate their communities on the development and its economic values to the people and the nation in general.

In their separate remarks, the Emirs of Lapai and Agaie expressed their optimism over the establishment of export market with in the two communities and promised to sensitize their subjects on the socio economic benefits of sesame farming.

The permanent Secretary was accompanied by the officials of the Ministry, the coordinator Nigeria Export promotion council, Mr Bello Noma, Architects from ministry of works, DG Niger State Export promotion council amongst others.
